Inspired Minds: African Americans in Science

Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History
315 East Warren Avenue
Detroit, MI 48201
United States

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and ScienceMakers formed a partnership to develop public and educational products and programs that advance the study and achievement of science, technology, engineering and math for K-12 students through the use of their unique historical-cultural resources and expertise.

The key objectives were to: 1) develop exciting educational programs and media products, including a major exhibition that engages children and their families, 2) meet the unique educational needs and challenges of families and communities served by the partners, 3) promote greater collaboration with families and schools in closing the science and math achievement gap for many minority groups, and 4) increase minority enrollment in science and math in higher education, which begins at the K-12 level.
