    Considered to be one of the most fiery and outspoken individuals of the 20th century, Malcolm X was born in 1925. He was a charismatic leader of the Nation of Islam before being ousted from the group in 1964. He went on to found the Organization of Afro-American Unity and the Muslim Mosque, Inc. An advocate of black nationalism, many of his followers became disillusioned with the less extreme views that he developed. He was shot and killed at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem by men identified as being members of the Nation of Islam on February 21, 1965.
