The HistoryMakers, in conjunction with SunTrust Bank, hosted a reception entitled An Evening of Celebration Honoring Dr. Walter Massey & Dr. Louis Sullivan on February 9, 2006. The reception was held at the Georgia Aquarium, in Atlanta, Georgia. The program began with a brief clip from Summer Hill, directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, David Hughes Duke. The film told the story of a remarkable African American community in Cartersville, Georgia. The night’s honorees, Dr. Massey and Dr. Sullivan, were interviewed by Valerie Richardson Jackson in a program that was engaging and informative about the lives and careers of two great men. This program was initiated by Ira Moreland, Managing Director of Corporate and Investment Banking for SunTrust, and Charlie Shufeldt, Executive Vice President of Corporate and Investment Banking for SunTrust.
