Auto sales entrepreneur Sanford Woods was born on February 11, 1949 in Dermott, Arkansas. Woods earned his B.S. degree in mathematics from Western New Mexico University in 1971.

Following his graduation, Woods was employed by two separate insurance companies in New Mexico and Colorado. He then began his career in the automotive industry in 1973, when he was hired by Chrysler Corporation as an administrative trainee in Denver, Colorado. Woods excelled in his position at Chrysler and was promoted to four different sales districts in five years. In 1978, he was transferred to the Denver Zone Officer. While at this location, Woods held management positions such as Truck Manager, Business Management Manager, and Field Operations Manager. By 1982, he was promoted to the position of Regional Manager of the Chrysler Corporation’s Detroit Import Operations Group. During the following seven years, Woods held positions such as Assistant Zone Manager and head of the Chrysler Minority Retail Dealers Development Program. In 1989, Woods ended his sixteen-year career with Chrysler to form the automotive dealership Brandon Dodge in Tampa Bay, Florida. His business has since grown to include ventures in real estate development, restaurants, and automotive collision centers. Since 2008, Woods has served as president and on-site manager of Treasure Coast Lexus in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Woods has led a very successful career and his accomplishments in business have been nationally recognized. Since 1994, Wood’s company has consistently appeared in Black Enterprise’s “Auto Dealer 100” list within the top twenty dealerships in the country. In 2008, he was listed in Who’s Who Among African Americans. Woods also received as Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Minority Auto Dealers in 2015.

Woods has been involved in many professional organizations within the automotive industry. He has served as a member of the board of directors for Toyota Lexus Minority Owners Dealership Association and as vice chairman of the National Association of Minority Auto Dealers, to name a couple.

Woods lives in Stuart, Florida. He has three children: Amber, Terlyn, and Sanford Jr.
