Corporate executive Jessica Isaacs was born on October 19, 1958 in Smyrna, Georgia, to Robert and Ida Belle Castleberry. She earned her B.A. degree in political science from Georgia State University in 1980 and her J.D. degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 1983.

Upon her graduation from Georgia State University, Isaacs was hired by Allstate Insurance Company as sales and marketing manager for the Atlanta metropolitan area. In 1988, she was promoted to division underwriting manager, responsible for Washington, D.C., and in 1992, to regional underwriting manager, responsible for New York State. Isaacs’ primary responsibilities included establishing and implementing underwriting policies as well as developing risk prevention measures. In 1994, Isaacs left Allstate to become assistant vice president in the personal lines division of American International Underwriters, a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. responsible for foreign property-casualty insurance transactions. Isaacs oversaw the development of new business opportunities in South America. In 1998, Isaacs was promoted to vice president of field operations responsible for eighteen countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2005, she was promoted to senior vice president status with responsibilities for field operations in North America, Europe and Africa which generated over 40 percent of total revenue for the consumer division of the company’s general insurance segment. In 2011, Isaacs left Chartis International, LLC, a subsidiary later rebranded AIG Property Casualty Inc. and joined Marsh, Inc. for one year in 2012 as managing director of the company’s new small and emerging markets business segment before being appointed president of the global consulting practice for The AJI Group, LLC in 2013. Isaacs worked at AJI until December 2016. In January 2017, she joined the Environmental Defense Fund as chief administrative officer.

Isaacs was elected chairman of the board for the Executive Leadership Council in 2009 and served until 2012. Isaacs has been recognized for her corporate leadership by numerous organizations, including The Opportunity Network, Inc. and the National Urban Technology Center. She served as board member of Dance Theatre of Harlem and the national advisory
board for The HistoryMakers.
